Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Kentucky Derby contender General a Rod has been sold to Starlight Racing and Skychai Racing just days before the running of the 140th Run for the Roses.

Starlight Racing announced on its Twitter page that the Florida Derby third- place horse has been transferred from J. Armando Rodriguez.

"Exciting news: Starlight Racing & Skychai Racing partnered 2 buy General a Rod. He'll remain w/ Mike Maker thru the KY Derby."

General a Rod finished just 1 1/2 lengths in back of Constitution in the Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park on March 29. He lost by a head to Wildcat Red, second in the Florida Derby, in the Fountain of Youth on Feb. 22 and won the New Year's Day Gulfstream Park Derby by a head over Wildcat Red.

The colt has won two of five career starts for $282,200.

Starlight Racing will also have Louisiana Derby runner-up Intense Holiday in the Kentucky Derby while Skychai Racing is part owner of Spiral Stakes runner- up Harry's Holiday, who will also run in Saturday's Triple Crown event.
