HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

THISTLEDOWN

ALL KNIGHT MUSIC: Never got involved after bobbling at the start Sept. 20. Can offer value

versus basement taggers.

EIFFELEGIONAIRE: Has shown a lot more speed in her last two since being stretched out in

distance. Can take one gate-to-wire.

FIERCE CAT: Heavy chalk in latest never looked comfortable racing over a sloppy track. Loyalty S.

winner gets back on track with a fast surface.

GRAY PACKAGE: Set a pressured pace as the 2-1 favorite and faded to finish fourth last out. A clear

lead is key.

IRISH A.C.: Caught off tracks in both of her starts here, but has done very well posting a second-place

finish Aug. 30 and a win Sept. 17. Looking good.

POWERED HIGH: Canadian import has never cared for wet surfaces, so we’ll give him a pass for the

sixth-place showing last out. Try again.

RARE AFFAIR: Winless on the year, but has shown some interest in her last two starts. Finished a close

fourth Aug. 27 and a good third at 19-1 last out Sept. 17. Tab.

SHAKEEL’S WISH: Handled the stretch out in distance perfectly going wire-to-wire in a maiden claimer

last time. In with a chance versus winners.

4STARSPECIAL: AMERICAN GUY: Speedster is on some roll in his last five starts posting three

wins and two seconds. Breaks on top and never looks back.

LONGSHOT: MAIN DAY: Is known to sneak in a decent effort every now and then, especially at long

odds. Can round out a big exacta.

PIMLICO

ALVINIA: Added Lasix for latest and showed improved early speed and overall interest when

second; lightly raced 4YO is a learning-on-the-job type and still improving.

AMBER JULE: Brings speed to stay in touch with early issue and has the knack for bringing back checks; a

must-use on our exotics tickets.

AWESOME DOE: Rallied wide to pick up second and regain better form following prior sub par try; juvenile

filly gains consistency and improves with experience.

BANK ON THE CHAMP: Middle-moved to lead only to weaken a touch late and finish a close third in first

attempt versus winners most recently; can only get better.

GOLD CLUSTER: Rallied from well back to gain fourth when in with allowance foes in first try off claim by trainer

Schoenthal; barn has options now.

GRAND RED: Blasted clear early and settled for distant second-best behind blowout winner in latest; early zip

cannot be ignored in lower-end claiming dashes.

KALLIE BIRD: Has finished well in both starts since return from brief break, and appears likely to retain sharp

form as a fresh face for fall.

NASHLY’S GROOM: Rallied well from a very wide spot to finish a close-up third in latest turf allowance route; consistent

late punch and "numbers."

PROMENADE AGAIN: Rallied from wide spot to pick up second behind clear winner in latest; primed for another

move forward in third start of current form cycle.

SEVEN TALENTS: Made the pace and battled gamely when collared in the stretch to finish second, dropping a

nose decision in latest; next time.

4STARSPECIAL: RUSH TO GLORY: Has yet to run a poor race through three career starts, most recently

using his early speed to lead throughout in first try with winners; stays hot.

LONGSHOT: WHERE ECHO’S END: Chased the pace and faded in latest, but was claimed by winning Dale

Capuano barn; clear early shake and/or easy pace helps.
