By: SPORTS NETWORK

Elmont, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - A broken leg bone has forced the retirement from racing of stakes winning 3-year-old Intense Holiday.

Owned by Starlight Racing, Intense Holiday suffered a broken condylar bone in his right front leg over the weekend and has been retired. The 3-year-old was injured while training for the Belmont Stakes upcoming on June 7.

"Thanks, everyone, for your concern re: Intense Holiday. He'll b fine & will have a great life! It just won't be on the track," the colt's ownership posted.

Trained by Todd Pletcher, Intense Holiday finished 12th in the Kentucky Derby. He won the Risen Star Stakes this year at Fair Grounds where he later finished 2nd to Vicar's in Trouble in the Louisiana Derby. In January, he finished behind Cairo Prince at Gulfstream Park in the Holy Bull Stakes.

Intense Holiday retires with two wins in nine lifetime starts and $551,900.
