HORSES TO WATCH
By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB
GULFSTREAM ALEX’S
VISION: Popular
claimer switched hands again after a troubled second. Seven-year-old always
shows up.
FIVE
WARS: Continues to
head in the right direction with racing experience, capped by a well-beaten
third-place finish at 51-1. Better than rated.
LADY
DUPREE: Tampa invader
made a great first impression in a $25k N2L claimer with a second-place finish
at 15-1 after hitting the gate at the start. Live over either surface.
LITTLE
MICHELLE: Loved her
debut back in February, but has yet to live up to her potential in three
subsequent starts. Ready to hit the reset button after dismal stakes effort in
early May.
MISS
JUNE: Has turned in a
pair of surprisingly subpar efforts while taking plenty of money in her first
two tries. More Than Ready filly can only move forward from here.
ROYAL
SPACES: Intriguing
third at 32-1, then never fired after some early trouble at the start. Far from
impossible.
BEST
BET: DEVIL’S CAVE: Certainly
didn’t embarrass herself with a third in the stakes at CD, but this is where
she’s at her best. Swallow the short price.
LONGSHOT:
SPEEDY BUCKAROO: Has
quietly showed some potential after slow breaks in his first two tries. Can
light up cheap maiden claimers.
NO.
CALIFORNIA
ARLINGTON
GETAWAY: Training
like a monster since a fourth-place finish back in March. Fires fresh off the
bench.
CATS
EGO: Getting better
with racing experience and isn’t exactly facing any monsters at the current
level. Live at a big price.
FULL’S
DRESS CODE: A mile
may be pushing it for her, but she did prove that she could grass in latest.
Speedy and dangerous.
POWER
OF TEN: Gem of
consistency continues to knock on the door to clear her first-level allowance
condition. Coming soon.
PRINCE
BANDINI: Finally
broke through with a win at 7-1 after a pair of runner-up finishes. Strike
while the iron’s hot.
STICKTOTHESCRIPT:
Has really elevated
her game in her last two tries on grass at 8-1. Ready to graduate.
THUNDERING
ROOTS: Lightly raced
5yo returned from a lengthy break with a career-best second at 13-1. Worth a
closer look versus similar.
ZEEWAT:
Back classy son of
Harlan’s Holiday from top barn is capable of much better than fifth-place
finish versus allowance company in early May. Gets back on track.
BEST BET: GOLDEN
GUY: Hard to imagine
that he’ll remain a maiden much longer after a pair of sharp runner-up efforts
thus far. Ready to graduate.
LONGSHOT: HOT ROCK HALLIE: Speedy
daughter of Siberian Summer is crying out for a class drop. Forgets to stop
once dropped in for a tag.
