HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

PHILADELPHIA PARK

CALL TIGER: Veteran remained popular at the claim box, this time going to trainer P. Aristone (19% wins this year) for $5k following latest third-place effort; notches overdue 13th lifetime score before long.

SHARPANDWITTY: Gained wide to pick up fifth in her latest, and now has a pair of races in her since back from December absence; course experience gained in latest should help for next time.

TIME FOR SPRING: Chased and faded late when fourth in his latest; sharp P. Farro barn showed confidence in trying ALW level off the claim, so that keeps our attention here.

ALBERTINA: Didn’t show much when sixth in her latest on turnback to six-furlong trip, but prior form was solid; sharper for next time.

NANAJA: Should only move forward following fourth-place finish after breaking a step slow in her latest return from lengthy absence; goes for very solid G. Preciado barn.

4*SPECIAL: WAR BELLS: Chased wide and couldn’t rally when it counted when third of five on slight class drop for her latest; proves worthy $7,5k-claim for trainer L. Bouchard.

LONGSHOT: KAY ONE: Dueled and weakened to fifth when making his second start following claim/brief respite; can surprise the right group if able to shake free early.

ELLIS PARK

GOLD MAGIC: Shot free on the pace and came up second-best when beaten as the favorite in her latest; speedy sort can get third lifetime score at currently reduced class level.

A J’S FORTUNE: Withstood pace pressure and gamely prevailed for score over five rivals for his second straight win since back from brief break; hat trick in sight.

MALACRIANZA: Broke slowly and raced well back early in his racing debut, but then did pick up the pace in the lane to finish fifth in useful run at turf route; juvenile son of War Chant would seem to have upside.

DEVIOUS D’ORO: Rallied to finish second, beaten only a neck, as the choice in her latest; daughter of Medaglia d’Oro has finished in the exacta in half of her 10 lifetime starts, and figures a solid play.

STREET CALL: Showed some life with third-place finish on move back to the dirt for his latest, and should be able to crack NW2L condition with local foes; always solid C. Nafzger barn.

RHINESTONE DIVA: Rated just off the pace, took over with strong move, and drove clear for solid score in her latest; obvious candidate for repeat.

NORTH BY NORTHLITE: Fought it out on the pace and weakened when it counted in fourth-place finish at 3-2 favored price by way of AP for her latest; another chance for solid K. Gorder barn.

BRIGADA: Hasn’t raced since first local try in mid-July when she pressed pace and faded to fifth; solid works since have her ready for improved effort.

GREY V TRAIN: Worked five furlongs from the gate on August 15 here in anticipation of racing debut; 3YO son of Marino Marini commanded $30k as a yearling, so seems worth following.

4*SPECIAL: MY FASHION: Got back to turf for her fourth lifetime start and responded with maiden romp over eight rivals; right back with winners in upcoming third start of current form cycle.

LONGSHOT: LEAD THE LINE: Flattened out from outside chasing spot, but did manage a fair fifth of eight when asked to try turf mile at first asking; moves forward, and offers value for winning B. Cox barn.
