Friday workout pleases California Chrome's trainer

Los Alamitos, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - It may not have been the fastest workout ever recorded, but Friday's half-mile breeze by Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner California Chrome did not disappoint trainer Art Sherman.

California Chrome, working at Los Alamitos, covered the four furlongs in 50 2/5 seconds.

"He went slow at first, but he was kickin' it in pretty damn good the last quarter," Sherman said Saturday. "I thought he went really nice. I'll probably have Victor (Espinoza) come over and work him next week."
