HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

MONMOUTH

CRONY CAPITALISM: Was off since June, took a drop in class last out when moving to the turf, pressed the pace early on, dropped back on the turn when in some traffic but then came again to finish in a dead-heat for fourth, handles all surfaces.

LUCKY SEVEN: Three year old filly dropped back down in class last out, chased the pace from the rail but couldn’t get to the top two favorites, respect with NW2L $5k claimers.

LYLE’S ANGEL: Six year old mare was coming off a two month break for her last start, was outrun early on behind sharp splits before closing well to finish fourth at 9-2; follow right back if she returns in a few weeks.

MS. GREEN MONKEY: Two year old filly came out running in her second start, cleared off to the lead and was able to hold on late to score by just a half-length; tab with restricted winners right back.

RICKASHEA: Returned from a December layoff last out and turned back in distance to go 5 and ½ furlongs, got away in fourth before finishing well for second at 2-1; follow with NW2L claimers right back over the lawn.

BEST BET: FIGHTERTOWN: Four year old colt was outrun early on racing in sixth behind moderate splits, came four wide into the lane and finished well to get up for second late at 15-1; follow right back.

LONGSHOT: OKLAHOMA DEN: Five year old gelding stretched out in distance last out, was right up on the slow pace, moved to the lead down the backside but couldn’t go with the leaders in the lane checking in sixth at 10-1; follow on the turnback in distance.

LAUREL

BOOGIE BIZ: Four year old gelding was away in fifth last out, made a good move to get into second right up with the leaders but tired in the lane to finish fifth at 52-1; give this one a look with restricted claimers over the turf.

D K’S BRIGANTIA: Two year old filly broke near the back of the pack in her debut which came over the turf, raced near the back of the pack early on, came with a wide run into the lane and finished well for fourth at 16-1; stay close.

FOR KEEPS: Three year old gelding was trying winners last out, showed good early speed setting some solid splits before tiring in the lane to finish sixth at 17-1; must respect with a slight drop in class, tab.

MARGARET OWNZIT: Dropped in class last out against $6.5k claimers, came out running from the rail last out, set a very sharp pace through a half mile in 45:4 and just got beat a nose late at 10-1; is a threat to wire them right back.

SAINTLY DEE: Got away in fourth last out against NW2L $5k claimers, made a middle move to get into second pressing the pace but tired to finish fourth, fits with restricted claimers.

BEST BET: VICKY TICKY TAVIE: Four year old filly stretched out in distance last out, got away in fourth early on, made a big move to take over the lead into the lane but just came up short checking in second at 19-1; respect right back.

LONGSHOT: GIN FUZZ: Two year old by Albert The Great made his debut over the turf last out, raced near the back of the pack, steadied in upper stretch but still managed to close to finish third at 23-1; look for improvement right back.
