HORSES TO WATCH
By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB
PARX RACING
ALICE’S
GIRLS: Raced wide to nowhere in her racing debut in what should prove a useful
fourth-place finish in eight-horse field; daughter of Any Given Saturday should
benefit.
CRESWELL BAY: Raced wide, put in a middle move, and settled
for dead heat for third money behind 5 ¾-length winner in her latest; worth a
try at square price with similar.
EL GUERO GUANTERO: Chased throughout and couldn’t get to
winner in the lane when a good second, beaten 1 ½ lengths, in his career racing
debut; must follow for strong R. Preciado barn (29% wins this year).
GREEK DEFAULT: Took well-meant class drop for winning S. Lake barn most recently, and did finish well too late
to pick up third; all set for breakout now.
I’MTRULYINTHEMOOD: Angled out and rallied to pick up second
behind easy winner in his latest; proven 8YO has finished on the board in 34 of
65 career attempts, so a must-use.
ITS MY TOWN: Chased the pace and weakened to fourth in her
latest, but now has a pair of starts in her since back from brief lay-up; can
move forward.
JOINT ATTEMPT: Had two-race win streak snapped when up in
class to starter allowance level and asked to race on wet ground for the first
time in her career; can do better than fourth-place effort.
JUST DO IT PLEASE: Managed third off a slow break and wide
trip in her latest; solid veteran remained popular at the claim box this time
going back to trainer P. Farro, who previously won with the mare off a claim.
LIME DROP KID: Moved back to dirt for his latest, and gave
only a fair account to pick up third of seven; does merit respect in NW4L
spots, and can be considered on dirt or turf.
MARKET BLASTER: Broke 11th of 12 and moved up to
chase when after repeat score on move back to sprint trip most recently, and
did stay on to finish an acceptable fourth; next time.
MAVERICKS GUN: Pressed the pace and weakened to fourth of
six as the favorite when in from DMR for his first start since August 2; worth
following off $16k-claim for winning P. Aristone barn.
PLAYA MEDINA:
Jumped up with wide run for second in her latest, following a pair of
fourth-place finishes to begin her career; primed for maiden score now.
4*SPECIAL: WHERE’S ROSIE B: Showed early interest – good
sign of sharpness – before she faded to fourth of 11 when back from brief respite
following failed turf try; moves forward.
LONGSHOT: THEN AND NOW: Tried a route of ground for the
first time in her third lifetime start, and showed early interest and
ultimately weakened to finish a fair fourth; upside off experience.
KEENELAND
CURLINO: Went to the post a 1.10-1 favorite for his racing
debut, gained wide, and had to settle for third of seven behind easy winner;
$375K auction buy is a son of Curlin with upside for solid M. Casse barn.
IN TALL COTTON: Pressed the pace, took over, and came up
second best in her latest while keeping currently sharp form; next time off
$7,5k-claim by trainer M. Lovell.
LINCOLN
LAW: Failed as the favorite when third on class drop for his latest, but was
returning on relatively short notice off a third-place effort in return from
break; could bounce back off $16k-claim by trainer C. Murphy.
MALIBU HIGH: Rated wide and was in contention, but weakened
to fourth in the stretch when back on the main track for his latest;
interesting off $25K-claim by trainer G. Trisler (20% wins from limited runners
this year).
MEXICAN MISS: Rallied to reach contention in the lane and
then finished up evenly for second in her latest; maiden looms interesting
$30K-claim from her 10th lifetime start for trainer J. Sharp.
MIDNIGHT SWEETIE: Put in a bold wide bid and was then
outfinished late in most recent third-place finish; daughter of Midnight Lute
was making her first start since early-May, and can clearly move forward.
OCEAN BERTIE: Put in wide bid for second in game try most
recently, and was claimed for $62,500 by trainer J. Deegan; must follow.
SAINT OF SAINTS: Moved back to dirt and responded with
dominant score on the front end when in from IND and moved to trainer D. Stewart for his
latest; plenty to build on.
SISTER KATHY: Rated, put in a bid to contend, and weakened
when it counted to finish third in her latest by way of IND; solid sort owns
record of 4-4-4 from 22 starts.
STROLL TO VICTORY: Chased throughout in second when favored
off an April-layoff and in with winners for the first time; son of Stroll from
K. McPeek barn can get it done next time.
TITLE WINNER: Broke slowly and raced wide when seventh of
nine in her racing debut for winning W. Catalano barn; daughter of Tiz
Wonderful moves forward for experience.
WAYWARD KITTEN: Showed expected improvement off his placing
in racing debut at AP when able to post game maiden score after getting through
traffic in latest; juvenile son of Kitten’s Joy with upside.
4*SPECIAL: JOGGET: Battled outside, shook free on pace, and
then weakened to fourth through the lane when after repeat score by way of ELP
for her latest; on board in six of 10 career starts.
LONGSHOT: OL ARMY: Has been in deep of late, but will
benefit from his latest sixth-place return from July-break; might surprise the
right cast.
