HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

KEENELAND-CHURCHILL DOWNS

HIGH MYSTERY: Chased in third throughout in a better try following a seventh-place finish at IND in prior return from break; on the board in 23 of 33 lifetime starts.

DOM THE BOMB: Showed good front-running speed and weakened late to finish fourth when in from AP following debut score in early-August; plenty of upside.

PERKY KITTEN: Showed improved early and overall interest when third after racing on the pace with switch to dirt for his latest; brings back checks, so use in gimmicks.

SKYLANDER: Jumped up class ladder when in from KD in search of repeat most recently, and fared well to finish third, beaten a length; on board in 10 of 16 lifetime starts.

LIZ PENDENS: Now has a pair of races in her since back from brief respite, and should benefit from a fitness standpoint off her latest sixth-place finish in route over soft ground; might surprise right group.

LOVELY MARIA: Came up second best behind easy winner when in from DEL off her debut maiden win; promising juvenile filly for always strong Larry Jones barn.

GET SET GO: Couldn’t threaten but managed a fair fifth of nine in her racing debut; daughter of More Than Ready from an Unbridled mare should benefit from experience and more ground.

COLONEL JANE: Battled on the pace and weakened to third as the favorite in her latest; can prove worthy $20k-claim for trainer J. Sharp, a former M. Maker assistant who has begun his training career strongly.

BRINK OF WAR: Gave way early to finish ninth in latest disappointment; perhaps colt returned a bit quick following second-place finish in September return from two-month break and can now rebound.

4*SPECIAL: WOULDN’T YOU KNOW: Fought it out on the pace and weakened to third when dropped to MCL ranks for his first start since late-December; primed now for trainer D. Miller.

LONGSHOT: ZIP N RUN: Showed speed and gave out to finish fourth when switched back to dirt and making his first start since early-August; value play next time.

PENN NATIONAL

PEARL OF WISDOM: Raced wide throughout latest route and understandably faded from contention to finish sixth in his first start since mid-July; another chance.

MICHAEL’S TRIBUTE: Couldn’t follow up sharp Sept. 24 placing when fifth on stretch to route for her latest; seems as though she needs sprint trip for best.

ESTRADA’S GIRL: Rallied wide to be up in time to post her third victory from last four starts most recently; in the exacta in 14 of 31 starts, so plenty of room on our tickets for her.

PINK HERO: Raced inside and didn’t threaten in latest fourth-place finish on return to main track following pair of turf sprints, but figures sharper for next time; proven veteran.

RINKA DOT: Showed some interest late to be along for fifth in useful return from late-July break most recently; offers value, so consider in exotics.

4*SPECIAL: GLOBAL RISK: Moved to contention, but didn’t give his best finish in fourth-place try when after repeat score in his latest; can rebound for solid Cody Beattie barn (26% wins this year).

LONGSHOT: KISSED AND MISSED: Battled inside on the pace and gave out to finish fifth in his latest; might surprise the right group if able to shake free from the bell.
