Shared Belief continues working toward Breeders' Cup Classic

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Berkeley, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Eclipse Award winner Shared Belief posted a Tuesday morning workout over Golden Gate Fields' synthetic main track ahead of his start in the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita on Nov. 1.

Trained by Hall of Famer Jerry Hollendorfer, the 3-year-old gelding covered five furlongs in 1:00 3/5 with Hall of Fame jockey Russell Baze riding.

"It was a really good work and a very good time, especially for this racetrack," said Hollendorfer. "Baze told me he thought he went excellent. He was very happy with the way he worked."

Hollendorfer said that the Pacific Classic and Awesome Again winner will have two more works at Golden Gate Fields prior the 1 1/4-mile Classic.

"He'll either go three-quarters (six furlongs) or seven-eighths, most likely three-quarters," said Hollendorfer about next week's workout.

Shared Belief missed the Triple Crown races, beginning his season with an allowance victory at Golden Gate Fields on May 26. He continued winning in the Los Alamitos Derby and Pacific Classic, and last month the 3-year-old gelding won the Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita to keep his career mark perfect in seven starts.

Partly owned by Hollendorfer and Jim Rome, Shared Belief has banked $1,552,200.
