Baffert Breeders' Cup candidates have workouts

Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Defending Breeders' Cup Sprint champ Secret Circle led a group of Bob Baffert-trained horses through Monday workouts at Santa Anita.

Secret Circle worked five furlongs in 58.80 seconds while stablemate American Pride was timed in 59.80 seconds.

Haskell and PA Derby winner Bayern worked five furlongs in 58.40 seconds and Pimpernel went the distance in 58.80 seconds.

Fed Biz, winner of the San Diego Handicap, worked six furlongs in 1:12.40 and Declassify was timed in 1:12.80.

Bayern is probable for the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic and Fed Biz is training for the $1 million Dirt Mile.

Also working Monday morning was Breeders' Cup Sprint candidate Big Macher, trained by Richard Baltas. Big Macher, ridden by his regular jockey Tyler Baze, covered six furlongs in 1:11.60.

"He worked really well," Baltas said of the Bing Crosby Stakes champ, "He was very aggressive. He galloped out in 23 and four (1:23 4/5 for seven furlongs) and 1:38 for the mile."
