HORSES TO WATCH
By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB
CHURCHILL DOWNS
HONE IN: Now has a pair of races under her saddle since back
from brief break, and most recently showed improved early and overall interest
when moved to dirt for third-place finish; next time.
BROUGHTON KITTEN: Gained from well back to finish third in
blanket finish when in with winners for the first time off debut win at IND;
upside for juvenile colt by Kitten’s Joy.
ELUSIVE HOLIDAY: Didn’t threaten when fifth of 10 in
acceptable racing debut at long odds; experience likely to serve daughter of
Harlan’s Holiday well for solid C. LoPresti barn.
OL SANISH: Chased briefly and gave out to finish ninth with
blinkers added for her latest; daughter of Curlin capable of more in upcoming
third start of current form cycle.
I FLY FIRST CLASS: Hadn’t breezed since mid-June, but shows
a pair of October works here in preparation for upcoming racing debut; follow
juvenile daughter of Offlee Wild.
SOL D’ORO: Son of Medaglia d’Oro commanded $360k a couple of
years ago as auction yearling, and shows long string of local works in advance
of racing debut; worth following.
FOLLOW BOURBON: Has trained steadily in advance of her
racing debut, and bears watching based on pattern of steady improvement of
late; works haven’t been blistering, so should offer value.
RHINESTONE DIVA: Flashed speed and stopped to finish sixth
of seven when up in class in search of repeat in her last start here in early-September;
freshening pays dividends now.
QUICK INDIAN: Once promising sort has really dropped off of
late, but shows pair of October workouts here for always capable M. Scherer
barn and can turn things around; big price.
4*SPECIAL: MR PALMER: Hasn’t raced since second-place finish
at Belmont in late-May, but resurfaced recently on local workout tab; strong
sort when back in entries for powerhouse B. Mott barn.
LONGSHOT: INFINITE MAGIC: Has dropped off form drastically
of late, and was last seen at AP in sixth-place try in September; training here
now, and capable of turnaround.
PENN NATIONAL
INDIGO ISLAND: Has flopped as the favorite in each of his
last two, most recently with mild late bid for fourth when in from PRX; one
last shot.
STREET INVADER: Led throughout in dominant score when in off
sixth-place try over PRX turf course; keeps rolling for C. Lynch barn (32% wins
this year).
THIS MIGHT BE: Raced inside and weakened to fifth in useful
debut try; expect son of Talent Search to show more early and overall interest
for S. Lake barn in second career start.
BLAZE WICK: Settled for second behind four-length winner in
her latest; versatile filly has been on the board in 15 of 20 lifetime starts,
so include in gimmicks.
DUE IN COURT: Gave mild rally for third in useful try when
making her first attempt with winners while also asked to stretch to route; can
improve for solid C. Crane barn.
4*SPECIAL: CHLOE’S WONDERBOY: Sharp R. Preciado barn (30%
wins this year) has shown confidence in placement of gelding since MCL win
three starts back; moves forward off latest fifth-place try.
LONGSHOT: GREY GATOR: Gave more than acceptable account with
even finish for fourth in his first start since mid-March most recently; can
offer value and improve next time.
