California Chrome gallops at Santa Anita

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - California Chrome, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner, galloped Tuesday morning at Santa Anita for Saturday's Breeders' Cup Classic.

Trained by Art Sherman, the 3-year-old chestnut colt galloped and schooled in Santa Anita's paddock. Earlier this year he posted three straight wins at the track in the California Cup Derby, San Felipe Stakes and Santa Anita Derby.

California Chrome drew post 13 for the Classic and is the 4-1 second choice behind 9-5 favorite Shared Belief. Victor Espinoza will again ride the colt in the 14-horse field going 1 1/4 miles.

California Chrome, owned by Steve Coburn and Perry Martin, is coming off a sixth in the $1 million Pennsylvania Derby at Parx Racing on Sept. 20. He was fourth in the Belmont Stakes behind Tonalist the 5-1 third pick for Saturday.
