HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

LAUREL

CROSSING: Was sent right to the lead from the start, set solid splits from the start and into the lane, drawing away smartly to score by almost three lengths in a very sharp time; was claimed and can get on a roll now, follow.

DEPLOYINGRESOURCES: Four year old gelding was coming off an August layoff last out, got away in sixth early on but never really did much running checking in an even sixth late at 8-1; stay close.

MONKEY’S MEDAL: Was outrun in the City of Laurel stakes racing in 13th, was still far back on the turn but closed well through the lane to finish fourth, could be all set now right back.

MY QUEEN: Six year old mare came out of the gate running last out when returning from a September layoff, set a sharp pace but couldn’t finish it off checking in fourth at 12-1; stay close.

PUGET SOUND: Four year old gelding shipped in from Suffolk Downs but has shown his affinity for this course with 3 wins from four tries before his last effort, was outrun early on and passed a few in the lane, all set now and just needs a pace to run at.

BEST BET: DANIEL DID IT: Came out of the gate running last out, battled head to head for the lead through sharp half mile but couldn’t go with the leaders in the lane but tired to finish fifth at 5-1; tough on a clear lead versus NW3L $7.5k claimers, tab off the claim.

LONGSHOT: QUALITY WISE: Two year old colt was making his third career start and stretching out in distance, he came out running for the lead, set the pace into the lane but tired late to finish third at 65-1; follow this one right back at a square price.

FAIR GROUNDS

BACK TO LIFE: Broke her maiden over this course last year, was up the track in three races since that maiden win, was given time and looks set for a comeback now.

BARE YOUR HEART: Four year old by Birdstone is still a maiden after seven starts, hasn’t been on the track since January but has shown a few works that say he is ready to go when he gets back to the races, tab.

COLBURN: Came off a July layoff last out at Hawthorne, got some needed conditioning and is working towards a win here for solid barn, all set now.

HARD ACES: Scored at the Fair Grounds over both surfaces earlier this year, hasn’t run since September but hails from top barn, stay with this runner when the meet opens.

PIONEER TIGER: Has been off since September at Louisiana Downs, is just 3 for 32 lifetime with two of those wins coming over the turf, is back on the work tab and must be respected at long odds, tab.

BEST BET: JAKE MO: Has been off since May but this five year old has some backclass to call on and is working his way back to the races, stay close.

LONGSHOT: FRIENDS WITH MONEY: Has two career starts to date both at Evangeline Downs, has shown speed in both efforts and can pop at a price next out over this track, follow.
