Palace Malice healthy to resume racing

Aiken, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Palace Malice, winner of the Met Mile, has been cleared to resume training and prepare for a 2015 campaign.

Owned by Dogwood Stable and Three Chimneys Farm, the 4-year-old colt received a thorough examination and has been found to be healthy and sound after suffering a bone bruise during the running of the Whitney Stakes at Saratoga in August.

"The x-rays and ultrasounds taken in Kentucky on Thursday morning are as good as we hoped they would be, and Dr. Larry Bramlage and Dr. Robert Copelan pronounced him completely sound," said Cot Campbell, Dogwood president. "Therefore, he shipped Friday morning from Three Chimneys to Aiken for 60-90 days of pre-training and then we will send him down to Todd Pletcher in Florida. His 2015 schedule will be formulated by Three Chimneys, Dogwood and Todd, and we will announce that at a later date."

Palace Malice, winner of last year's Belmont Stakes, was initially retired from racing after suffering the injury. However, that decision was reversed after a half interest in the colt was purchased by Three Chimneys Farm.

This year, Palace Malice won the Gulfstream Park and New Orleans Handicaps along with the Westchester and Met Mile. The colt has seven wins from 17 career starts for $2,676,135.
