Take Charge Brandi to continue racing in 2014

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Take Charge Brandi will continue to compete in 2014 with division honors still possible.

Trained by Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas for Willis Horton, Take Charge Brandi won the Delta Downs Princess Stakes on Nov. 22 and is now slated to move to California for another start as a 2-year-old.

"I want to take the doubt out of the vote. Let's make it easy," Lukas said. "I really thought she was coming up to the Delta Downs race as well as the Breeders' Cup, so to get two like that was good. I think she's going to run huge the next time."

Lukas will have the filly start at Los Alamitos in the $350,000 Starlet on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Take Charge Brandi pressed the pace and then took command down the stretch to win the $400,000 Delta Downs Princess Stakes on Nov. 22. Three weeks earlier, the 61-1 longshot set the pace from the start and rolled to victory in the $2 million Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita Park on Nov. 1.

Take Charge Brandi broke her maiden in her debut at Churchill Downs in June. She was second at Saratoga in the Schuylerville and fifth in the Adirondack Stakes. The filly followed with a fifth in the Pocahontas at Churchill and was eighth in Keeneland's Alcibiades.

The filly has won three of seven starts for $1,410,126.
