HORSES TO WATCH
By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB
FAIR GROUNDS
CLASS LEADER: Was two for two
over this track heading into his last start, his first since October, was away
in last early on, made a good move to take over the lead into the lane only to
get nailed late by a neck; four year old has a future.
CLASSY LULU: Came out running
from the inside post last out, set a pressured pace from the start and into the
lane and tired to finish fourth late at 6-1; should be all set right back;
follow.
DON’T PLAY TRICKS: Four year old
gelding was hard ridden early on while racing in ninth, made a good move to get
into third but couldn’t finish it off checking in fourth at 77-1; must respect
right back.
GENERAL HOLLY: Four year old
gelding was coming off a good third at this level two back, chased the pace
from third while racing three wide, moved into second behind the wire to wire
winning favorite but had to settle for third late, fits with NW3L $5k claimers.
TIME CATCHER: Three year old by
Temple City was making his career debut last out going a mile over the turf,
was outrun some early on, started to gain on the final turn and finished well
for fourth at 28-1, should improve for top barn.
BEST BET: OSIDY CAT: Three year old was outrun
early on when returning from a two month layoff, was bumped hard from both
sides at the start of the race, trailed the field of 10 early on and closed
well to finish fourth; improving sort should be followed right back.
LONGSHOT: DELUSIONAL K K: Three year old filly
was making her first start over the turf last out, was away in last early on,
raced in 8th for most of the race before closing well to finish a
close-up fifth at 15-1; tab this runner right back over the dirt.
TAMPA
ANITA PARTNER: Was coming off a
maiden win against $50k maiden claimers, moved up to face off against NW1X
optional claiming $75k, broke from the rail, stalked from fifth early on, moved
up into third but just couldn’t go with the leaders late checking in fourth at
22-1; tab.
BURNING SKY: Turned back in
distance and move back to the dirt, was outrun early on from post 9, was still
well back past the half but closed well to finish third at 27-1; respect this
runner with NW2L $8k claimers.
CHEER N SHOUT: Six year old mare
got away in third early on, moved to the lead past the ¾ mark but couldn’t hold
off the easy winner checking in second at 7-1; must respect this runner right
back with NW2L $8k claimers.
LETSGOTOVEGAS: Four year old filly
was making her second career start last out, was off since June and was sent
off as the 3-2 favorite, got away in fifth and never really made a run checking
in fifth late, needed the race and should improve right back.
TAX BREAKER: Put in a big effort
last out when battling on the lead throughout, right from the start and into the
lane coming up a neck short at 4-1; can be tough with time restricted claimers
right back.
BEST BET: HYMAN ROTH: Was coming off a bad effort
two back against $10k claimers on the dirt at Aqueduct, faced off against
optional $62.5k claimers, pressed the leader from the start and into the lane
but tired late to finish a good fifth at 28-1; needed that race and fits well
with lesser.
LONGSHOT: KENTONIA: Five year old mare came out
running for the lead last out, set a pressured pace from the start and into the
lane tiring only late to finish third at 34-1; is a threat to lead all the way
next out at a price.
