HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

GULFSTREAM PARK

DR. TOOLE: Super Saver firster from red-hot barn seemed to figure it out too late to finish a well-beaten fourth behind a runaway winner. Onward and upward.

INDIANAUGHTY: Looking forward to seeing this son of Indian Charlie get back on grass after a couple of failed attempts to get on the Triple Crown trail. U.S. debut over the GP lawn in mid-January was quite solid.

LAWYER JIM: Solid enough turfer–just needs to be spotted properly. Overdue for a win and coming off a good third-place finish.

RIZWAN: Cranked out back-to-back wins on the grass here, then switched to dirt with a strong second. In good hands with Gleaves.

SILVER DAGGER: Took a major step forward with a switch to grass to place third at 46-1 after leading in the stretch. In good hands with Romans.

STREET CHIEF: Took a while to figure it out--graduated at 14th asking and finished a good second at 18-1 in first try versus winners--but trying him in the Pan American didn’t make a whole lot of sense. Gets back on track in a more reasonable spot.

BEST BET: TINTO MESA: Pletcher firster ran well in defeat to finish fourth after hopping at the start and taking the turn five wide. Should be very tough next out.

LONGSHOT: DUSTYMOUR (IRE): Continues to race himself into shape since the layoff. Capable of much better if he runs back to his form from last summer.

GOLDEN GATE

ARROM BEAR: Toss his February attempt when he was bumped at the start, and he’s done very little wrong in these parts. Get on board.

AWESOME LOOKN: You have to go pretty far back in her pp’s to find a poor performance. Looking good.

BLAMEITONTHECAT: Has really stepped up her game in three starts since joining the Steve Sherman barn. Gets her paws on one.

BOTTLE BLONDE (GB): Out of action for a while, but always seems to show up. Capable over either surface here for top barn.

MICROBURST: Awesome Again filly continues to train smartly for her debut. Keep this one on stable mail.

SKY FOREVER: Returned from a June layoff with a runaway win at the n2L level. Makes it three straight.

TIZAPLAYER: Very speedy and finishes first or second at a high clip. Lightly raced 5yo can fire fresh off the bench.

YANKEE REBEL: Banked $100k in SoCal, so you know this guy can run a little bit. On the comeback trail after spending a year on the bench.

BEST BET: SUMMER HIT: Loaded with backclass and ran a huge second in a salty allowance race while making his first attempt since June. Gets his picture taken.

LONGSHOT: MONSAJEM PERVADE: Back-to-back sneaky efforts at 89-1 and 36-1 should be enough to take this maiden serious for next time. Get on board.
