Delta Downs Jackpot to be renewed in November

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Vinton, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - This year's $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot and $400,000 Delta Downs Princess, won in 2014 by favorites Ocho Ocho Ocho and Take Charge Brandi, will be renewed on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 21.

The 1 1/16-mile Jackpot for 2-year-olds has been part of the 'Road to the Kentucky Derby' series the last three years and has produced a total of 12 starters, including six in the last three years, for the Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs.

Last year's Delta Downs Jackpot was won by 5-2 favorite Ocho Ocho Ocho who went on to start in last week's Kentucky Derby after winning three of his first five races. Ocho Ocho Ocho took the Jackpot over Mr. Z and Far Right.

The 2014 Delta Downs Princess for 2-year-old fillies was won by Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas' Take Charge Brandi after the filly captured the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and would later be honored with the Eclipse Award as champion 2-year-old filly of 2014.

"We are so proud of our Jackpot Day program and how much it has grown in recent years," said Steve Kuypers, Vice President and General Manager of Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel. "Jackpot Day offers some of the best quality and wagering opportunities in the sport and our team is eagerly looking forward to this year's event in November."
