Ashford Stud will stand American Pharoah
By: SPORTS NETWORK
Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - The stallion rights to Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner American Pharoah have been acquired by Coolmore's Ashford Stud. "Whatever happens in the Belmont, American Pharoah is an outstanding sire prospect," said Ashford Stud manager Dermot Ryan. "He's already a champion two-year-old and has won his first four starts at three by over 30 lengths. It's very exciting to think about how much more he might achieve." American Pharoah, owned by Zayat Sables, is one win away from becoming the first Triple Crown champion in 37 years. The colt, trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Victor Espinoza, will next race in the 1 1/2-mile Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 6 and will continue to race in the colors of Zayat Stables. Reports are that American Pharoah will likely be retired from racing following his 3-year-old year and take up residence at Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Versailles, Kentucky.
