American Pharoah to appear at Santa Anita

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Triple Crown winner American Pharoah will make a public appearance on Saturday at Santa Anita during the Gold Cup program.

American Pharoah, owned and bred by Ahmed Zayat and trained by Bob Baffert, will be paraded between the seventh and eighth races Saturday, about an hour before the $500,000 Gold Cup at Santa Anita.

The champion colt, last year's Eclipse Award winner as top 2-year-old, will enter the track's Paddock Gardens area at approximately 7:30 p.m. ET, following a screening of his historic front-running Belmont Stakes victory.

American Pharoah will then proceed to the track's Seabiscuit Walking Ring, where he will take a pair of laps, accompanied by handlers from Baffert's stable. The colt will then be led under the Grandstand and onto Santa Anita's main track.

Once on the main track, he will be led toward Santa Anita's Club House turn. American Pharoah will pose for pictures and will turn around and head to the Winner's Circle, where he will be met by Baffert and his regular rider Victor Espinoza. The Triple Crown champ will walk the length of the stretch back to Baffert's shed row.
