HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

PARX

WICKLOW GRAY LADY: Tipped outside and couldn’t threaten top two when a distant third in her latest, but can be used underneath in exotics; demand some value.

MISS CELEB: Showed the way on the pace, was displaced, and took up in the stretch once passed and finished fourth (third via DQ of rival); deserving of another shot.

ENCHANTED DREAMS: Couldn’t overcome extreme outside post position (10) and wide journey when sixth in five-furlong turf dash most recently; prior placing with softer company was solid.

MR BRIONI: Rated, moved to contend, and flattened a bit when it counted in his latest third-place finish on class hike to ALW level in his second start since claimed by trainer M. Pino; stay with him.

URQUIA: Stalked the pace, led in the lane, was carried out, and faded from contention late when fourth in her latest on move to turf; versatile sort brings back checks.

4*SPECIAL: NEW YAWKER: Hard-knocking 9YO gelding stayed on as the favorite for his 14th lifetime win most recently, and has 20 additional on-the-board finishes from 60 starts; must-use.

LONGSHOT: NEEDLE IN THE HAY: Turned in an even effort for sixth of nine when in from TAM as a relatively fresh face for his latest; expect continued improvement from lightly raced 3YO.

ELLIS PARK

OXNARD: Showed some needed life with mild late finish for sixth in his first start since last-October when in from IND; another chance at square ticket.

MAJOR DARBY: Made up a lot of ground off a slow break and through traffic to pick up fifth when barn showed confidence with ALW placement in his second start back from brief break; upside.

SISTER LILLY: Battled wide on the pace and gave out to finish seventh of 11 in her latest, but was meeting winners for the first time after 20 tries to score at maiden level; value stab.

BROOM BROOM: Set a clear pace and drove clear through the lane for 3 ¼-length maiden score on class plunge most recently; right back in reasonable spot.

EMMETT PARK: Was jostled at the break and put in a wide run, according to the chart, and surrendered stretch lead to fall a neck short when second as the favorite in his latest; atones.

CARDINAL GIRL: Had early trouble and moved wide to put in run for fourth in off-the-turf spot most recently; return to better form somewhat encouraging, but turf might be calling.

LOLLIPOP (ARG): Dueled on the pace and stayed on throughout to finish a close second in a group of 11 most recently; speed makes him a player with cheapies.

ARCH ANGEL: Tipped out and gained to finish a fair fourth on move to turf most recently; honest sort must be considered on any surface.

GREY OAK: Put in willing run for third when making his first start since last-October most recently; had last been seen finishing a distant eight, so tab the effort one to build on.

4*SPECIAL: HEBBRONVILLE: Withstood pace pressure throughout to stay gamely for half-length win at odds-on when in from PIM for his latest; well-traveled 3YO with touch of class moves forward.

LONGSHOT: BOOMER SIX: Put in a mild bid and gave way to sixth in off-the-turf try most recently; does bring synthetic form and some pedigree to give turf a tumble.
