American Pharoah has workout at Santa Anita

Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Monday morning Triple Crown winner American Pharoah put in his second workout since returning to Santa Anita from Churchill Downs.

Trained by Bob Baffert for Zayat Stables, American Pharoah worked a half- mile, with Martin Garcia riding, in 47.60 seconds and galloped out five furlongs in 59 seconds.

"The big horse worked easy 47 out 59 cruise control the whole way! getting ready for the haskell. Back to business," racing manager Justin Zayat tweeted.

Last Thursday it was announced that American Pharoah will make his next start in Monmouth Park's Haskell Invitational on Sunday, Aug. 2. Owner Ahmed Zayat lives in New Jersey and Baffert has won the race seven times, including last year with Bayern.
