HORSES TO WATCH
By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB
HAWTHORNE
CHEDDAR: Raced evenly throughout last time when finishing third and
fits nicely with $8k claimers.
DEAD RINGER: Did make up some ground in the stretch to finish a well
beaten third but was up against the speed bias, tab.
JUMP FOR JOYEUX: Was used hard battling for the lead last out and
tired to finish fourth in the drive; respect his early lick.
LIL THOMAS TOO: Raced in the middle of the pack early on but came with
a strong run to get up to score by a head. Respect this 7YO off that effort
with any kind.
MISS DENOUNCER: Battled head to head through some solid fractions
and tired late to finish third, beaten only two necks; can lead all the way
versus statebred allowance foes.
PRINCESS GRANDSLAM: Finished third last out as the slight choice after
trailing the five horse field early on. The track was speed favoring so give
her another shot next out.
SPOTTED STAR: Tried the favorite for a half mile but didn’t have enough left
in the drive and had to settle for the place spot; graduates with maiden claimers.
4STARSPECIAL: FIGHTING FEVER: Was close-up to the pace while racing
four wide but couldn’t hold on late and settled for second. A danger to take it
all the way next out.
LONGSHOT: I’MA MIRACLE: This filly bucked the speed bias last out getting
up to score by a neck despite coming with a wide run; follow with $4k claimers.
OAKLAWN
BOYUM: Lived up to odds-on billing with devastating score in latest, and
was claimed by trainer Pryor; back-classy 8YO keeps on rolling.
DIRTY MIKE: Maintained fourth throughout his latest, and all while hung wide;
10YO gelding is a 16-time winner and one of our all-time favorites.
FIRM ACCELERATION: Battled between pace rivals and gave way in latest;
can improve with better racing luck in second start off claim by trainer Hooper.
JOLIE’S THUNDER: Rated, rallied, and simply came up a head short as
odds-on choice in latest; head bob goes his way next time.
LEON’S BEST: Seems to be learning the rating game in pair of starts since return
from four-month layoff, and education always pays.
NATGEAR: Fourth-place finish in career debut, in which he dueled and faded
to fourth, will only help matters going forward.
RACING LUCK: Has the tactical speed to make her own racing luck, and as
a result she should only continue to pick up checks; a must in gimmicks.
SUPREME SAM: Raced near pace throughout, and while between foes, in
nice third-place finish most recently; early shake would get him home.
TEXAS TREE: Battled on pace and stayed on gamely to finish second in latest;
prior win was nice, and mare is simply in good form right now.
THIS IS DOC: Gained too late in most recent start, but seems headed in right
direction in current form cycle; nabs NW2L types.
4STARSPECIAL: MAGIC WEAPON: Chased and tired in latest, but new barn
showed confidence stepping her up in class off claim and racing her without
front bandages; must follow.
LONGSHOT: QUAKER CHANGE: Rallied for fourth and race over course will
only help matters going forward, as will second start since August-layoff; primed.
