Storm Flag Flying Injured
By: Sports Network
Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Storm Flag Flying, last year"s champion two- year-old filly, has a small fracture in her right rear leg. The injury was discovered at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital. Storm Flag Flying is owned by Ogden Mills Phipps and trained by Shug McGaughey. Last year, she won the Breeders" Cup Juvenile on her way to being named juvenile filly champion. Storm Flag Flying has raced just twice this year, finishing second in the Comely Stakes and sixth in the Acorn Stakes. The injury may be the reason she did not race well in the Acorn. The filly joins last year"s champion two-year-old colt Vindication on the injury list. Vindication was kept off the Triple Crown trail by a leg injury, and has yet to race this year.
