Injury sidelines Bellamy Road
By: SPORTS NETWORK
Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Bellamy Road, the beaten Kentucky Derby
favorite owned by George Steinbrenner, has an injury that will keep him from
competing in the next two legs of racing's Triple Crown.
Trainer Nick Zito said Tuesday that Bellamy Road has an injury to his left front leg. X-rays revealed
no fractures, but Zito said the three-year-old will skip the Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes
to instead gear up for the late summer season.
Bellamy Road was one of five horses Zito started in the Kentucky Derby. The runaway winner
of the Wood Memorial finished a disappointing seventh in the Run for the Roses this past Saturday.
