HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

CALDER

BASILIDES: It looks like he’s found a home on the turf after finishing second

Aug. 13 and fourth Sept. 9. Isn’t far away from a maiden victory.

CLUB HOPPER: Pulled off the upset at 10-1 in her debut and figures awfully

dangerous off the Norman Pointer claim. Hop on it!

DIPLOMAT CUP (ARG): Has run two sneaky good races in a row without

hitting the board. Builds off fifth and fourth-place showings.

HEAVENLY REWARD TO: Up against better at $16k and ran fourth that day

after dueling for a half mile. Wires ‘em if put back at the $10k level.

NICE ALEX: Showed improved speed in his second career start when dropped in

for a tag. Further improvement as well as a generous price are expected.

RUBY DO: Has speed to spare and has brought home paychecks in each of his

three starts since getting claimed June 12. Never looks back.

SOLDIER GUARD: Still not throwing in the towel on this guy after three

disappointing efforts. Remember that this William White trainee went off at 9-5 in

debut; gets one more chance.

SQUIRE PHILIP: Placed second, missing only by a head in his debut against

maiden claimers, then finished a respectable third versus maiden special weights

 last out. An obvious threat.

STACK BABY: Ran well to finish fourth last time, considering she hit the gate and

was taken up shortly thereafter. Right back on the sod.

4STARSPECIAL: TALE OF FREEDOM: Broke through in her third career start and

has added a second-place finish and a victory since. Will be tough to beat.

LONGSHOT: ATYLIA: Encountered some trouble in her last two, getting bumped at

the start July 25 and steadying on the first turn Sept. 9. Take a shot.

LOUISIANA DOWNS

CALL ME BOBBY: Rated and rallied to draw out to conclusive victory in latest;

gelding took 29 starts to win maiden but is capable of third straight win next time.

CLOD’S CRYPTO: Has shown improved early and overall interest of late, and sharp

gelding can still offer tote value going forward; stay on board.

CYPRESS STAR: Gave chase and continued in relatively even fashion when asked to

tackle a route trip for first time in his career most recently; experience helps.

G.W.’S DEPUTY: Turned in a nice third-place finish when making just his second

start since March; 7YO veteran is all set for best.

MOON OVER MIAMI: Held sharp form when second in latest, and can do even better

than what amounted to a loss at odds-on; barn hitting at nice clip this year.

SANDY MOMENT: Showed improved early speed and staying power when on the pace

throughout latest maiden tally; right back in reasonable spot.

UNCLE TOODIE: Rated and rallied to lead only to settle for third in blanket finish

most recently; turf stepped him up, so expect more forward progress.

WINCRAFT: Rallied from wide spot to finish a close second in latest, and continues to

improve from race to race of late; overdue for top prize.

4STARSPECIAL: FASTSWEETTOWNGIRL: Returned to main track for latest and battled

on pace only to fade in first start off claim by trainer Cascio; clearly capable of much more.

LONGSHOT: LEE LEE: Overcame rocky gate getaway to middle move and then faded to

sixth in latest; one to watch off claim by trainer Whited.
