HORSES TO WATCH
By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB
SUFFOLK
DIXIE REBEL: Two year old has high early speed and looked home last out
when he entered the stretch with a three and a half length lead only to tire
to third. Will be tough customer on the lead versus similar.
ITSAWONDERFULIFE: Was racing in fifth for most of the race last out but
then put in a strong run to overtake the leaders and score by a length. Has
proven that he can handle all surfaces so stay close.
JILL’S JUMPSHOT: The slow break may have cost him the win last out but
he did run on well to finish third as the third choice with $4k claimers. A clean
break makes him tough.
PULL OVER PLEASE: Made a middle move to the leaders but tired as they
entered the stretch to finish fifth, give this one another shot over a dry surface.
STORM QUEST: Five year old gelding stalked the quick pace most recently
and still had enough left to run down the leader for the head win, sharp now.
TOO PROUD: Took to the slop when scoring by three lengths most recently over
NW2L claimers but must be respected at the next level, especially if the price is right.
4STARSPECIAL: MATT’S MEMO: Has had some physical issues but hails from
top barn and most recent effort was a good one despite losing the lead late.
Should get there with NW1X allowance foes right back.
LONGSHOT: SERGEANT LEFTY: Hard to endorse a horse that is coming off
a last place finish but did battle hard for the lead through solid fractions last out
and he was moving up in class, take this one on the drop class next out.
TURFWAY
ALEXIS’ STAR: Was up close to the pace from the far outside post 11, made
the lead past the ¾ mark before packing it in and finishing fourth; a better post
gets her there with NW2L claimers.
APPLE KRISP: Tried to close from well back in a five and a half furlong, NW3L,
claiming race last out and just missed the place spot by a head. Slightly more
distance gets him there.
BLACK HILLS BANDIT: Was never far back behind quick splits, made a good
move to the leaders but had to settle for third late. His diploma awaits.
BOSTON STORM: Set some very good splits last out at 57-1 but tired as they
entered the stretch and finished eighth. Don’t dimiss her speed especially at a big price.
BRING HIM GOLD: Showed good speed from the start, set some honest splits,
was overtaken but didn’t pack it in until late finishing fourth, is a threat to go all
the way next out.
BRITELITEINTHENITE: Trailed the field of 10 after a half mile but settled in
and came with a strong run to finish third, more pace up front will get him there.
NEVER SKIP: Closed strongly with a wide run to finish second at 75-1 most
recently and will still offer value at the windows next time out.
NO CASH: Made have a made her move too fast last out when settling for
second after making a strong move to the lead prior to entering the stretch, proper
rating gets her there with NW3L claimers.
ROSE’S JEWEL: Broke last in the field of 12, raced in 11th through most of the
race but did make a wide move to finish an even fifth at 114-1, the price will be right
next out for two year old on the improve.
4PSPECIAL: SHINY DANCER: Broke running from the start, took pressure from
the favorite, put that one away but couldn’t hold on late and had to settle for the place
spot, follow.
LONGSHOT: COUNT ON BILL: Easily outran his 66-1 odds most recently as he lead
into the lane before fading late to finish fourth despite racing wide; like his chances
with NW1X allowance foes.
