HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

TURF PARADISE

ADOBE HILL: Rated down early, he gave chase throughout when trying to stretch to route for latest first attempt over course; fifth-place try proves invaluable learning try.

AMERIKANER: Tried turf rebound in latest and battled on pace before she tired to third; sharper for experience going forward, so follow.

KICK THE CAN: Chased and weakened a touch to finish fifth in latest; prior successes over course are worth noting with third start of current form cycle pending.

LIL EAGLE: Rallied a touch to pick up fifth in a group of nine when making career debut – no knockout effort by any means, but a nice start for juvenile; follow.

RYAN’S PARTNER: Veteran gelding brings solid overall credentials and a nice late punch under the right conditions; adds some value to your gimmicks.

SKYLINE TRAIL: Rated close to pace and drew out to easy and overdue maiden score most recently; sharp now, he can score right back in reasonable spot.

SPYKID: Ran hard to win when racing out of conditions two starts back and settled for fifth when in with the same in latest; eligible for bounce-back effort.

WIND TALKIN: Knocking on the door in a big way of late, he appears ready for breakthrough win following latest game second; one last shot.

4STARSPECIAL: COWBOY UP: Tried a bit tougher company in latest when third and remains eligible for drop to NW3L ranks – if opportunity comes up, pay close attention.

LONGSHOT: DEVIL’S ACE: Couldn’t overcome rocky break from gate when never a factor in distant fourth-place finish most recently; needs pace/racing luck to set up late rally.

TURFWAY

AMANUENSIS: Wasn’t that far back early on racing in fifth then made a move to the leaders through a quick half mile, took over the lead but held on well for the score; taken to repeat.

ANNA DANA: Broke well from post 11 while chasing the leader through some decent splits and held on very well for second; ready to graduate.

CHECK STATION: Broke from the extreme outside post last out, showed good speed while racing wide and stayed on very well to just miss the place spot, only ¾’s of a length off the winner.

COUPE AUX MARRONS: Broke from the far outside post 12 with maidens, sat second for most of the way before taking over the lead into the stretch only to tire late for the place. Ready to graduate.

DADDYS SHOES: Was towards the back of the pack early on, settled in but then came very wide for the drive and closed strongly to finish second to the favorite at 71-1; is a good fit with basement claimers.

EITHER ORR: Was never that far back off the pace last out, chased the leader from the half mile pole home but held well clear for the place spot. Is a good fit with $17.5k claimers.

JUST FINE: Ran a good second last out at 26-1 just missing by a half length closing strongly late. Fits with NW2L claimers.

SIR GAWAIN: Didn’t hit the board last out but did run on well for fourth at 64-1 with NW2L claimers; is a must use in all exotics next out.

THELIGHTSAREON: Got away towards the back of the pack and raced in 8th for a half before making a solid three wide move on the turn to finish second, tab with $5k claimers.

4STARSPECIAL: CAT STALKER: Well bred three year old colt just got up for the score last out as the close second choice versus NW2L allowance foes and is starting to learn the game; can string a few together.

LONGSHOT: TRICKIE GOLD: Broke running from post 9 last out versus maiden claimers and led into the stretch at 107-1 before tiring to finish fifth. Is improving now and must be followed at a price.
