#10 Smart Dude

Prepped off a layoff and then improved strongly last time out in the second off the layoff, showing good speed at this trip at this level until fading late. Now ready for a big effort third off the layoff, and has the right speedy front-end running style ideal for success in Gulfstream 5F turf sprints. Faces much less speed in this field than last time, and gets a jockey upgrade to Jose Ortiz. An obscene overlay at 20-1 odds on the morning line.

Plus play an exacta box w/#3 Arcelor

#2 Solfatara is one of the hottest horses in Florida and shows no sign of letting up. Seeking her fifth-straight win after beating a tougher bunch last time. The last time she was at today’s class level two races who she won off by 7 lengths. The last time she was at this 6F distance three races ago, she also won over at Calder. Good speed figures and will be extremely difficult to knock off in her current form.

Play in exacta box w/ #3 Arcelor, who is the main challenger to end Solfatara’s winning streak today. Exits an impressive win here at Gulfstream, and has now won two of her last three races including two in a row at this 6F distance going back to last fall at Churchill Downs where she ran off to an eight-length win. Leading rider Luis Saez is back aboard.
