play exacta box w/#6 Rapid Assent
#9 Fareeq improved last time out off the Broberg claim with
a solid second-place finish in a similar spot. Owns good early speed and will
benefit from the slightly shorter 5 1/2F distance today and is likely to
improve in the third start of the current form cycle.
Play in exacta box with #6 Rapid Assent, who is a live
longshot at 8-1 odds on the morning line who probably will be overlooked based
on a disappointing finish last time out. However, two races ago ran a nice
effort for third, beaten just a half-length by Fareeq in that race that would
stack up well against today’s competition.
Race 7
#8 Hammerin Aamer
Change of scenery here for this horse that has been running
big numbers on the New York circuit against much tougher competition such as
Mr. Buff and Plainsman, among others. Now shows up locally to be able to run a
one-turn mile, which should prove to be his wheelhouse, and joints the high
percentage barn of Brad Cox with leading rider Santana aboard.
