#1 Stormy Derby Day came back
from a 2 ½-month layoff last time with an improved effort, and definitely is
happy to be back in Florida since this seems to be where she does her best
running, counting that last race and also the maiden win here last year on turf
at this distance. There figures to be a couple of top contenders in this race
vying for the lead, and it should set up for this horse’s late run. If she can
repeat her last effort that should be enough to win in this spot.
Play in
exacta box with #5 Ghostly Beauty, who exits a subpar outing last time but is
poised for a positive rebound here today as evidenced by Irad Ortiz picking up
the mount aboard this horse. Ran a good effort at this level two races ago to
be second with a solid speed figure, and is a big candidate for a turnaround
today for trainer Mike Maker, who already has 18 wins at the meet.

#6 Sugar Fix
In the
Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf, this horse should be very tough to
beat based on her best recent efforts. Finished a solid second last time in the
Claiming Crown, and earned a win three races ago at Kentucky Downs. Also won at
Saratoga last season and was competitive at The Spa in the Lake George (G3).
Goes out for winning connections and has a very good overall record with 7 wins
and 11 exacta finishes in 16 career outings.
