SPOT PLAYS
Race 2
#6 Moonage Moonbeam
Since returning from the layoff, this horse had a
one-mile bottom-building effort in a grade 3 stakes race, then last time this speedster
spotted the field a three-length head start with a bad break and was used to
rush up to the pace until fading to fourth. Just needs clean start to make amends
in this spot.
Race 10
#9 Scherzando
Plus exacta box with #3 Kreesa
#9 Scherzando ran very well in a turf sprint last year,
then didn’t get another chance until two races ago when he crashed into the
gate at the start and broke four lengths behind the field in last to lose any
chance. Lost on the dirt last time, but now gets back on the grass and just
needs a good start for a big chance at a nice price.
Play in exacta box with #3 Kreesa, who needed a race after a long
layoff and stayed in an off-the-turf race in order to maintain his eligibility
to draw into a race like this. Toss out the dirt race because this is a turf
sprinter, as he displayed last year with a pair of solid turf sprint efforts as
a 2-year-old.
