an underrated effort two races ago when trying to chase a slow pace at Aqueduct
with a troubled trip. Had good races in NY before that which would beat this
field. Got off to a bad start last time when beaten at Oaklawn but can make
amends today for trainer Mike Maker.

#3 Sandman finished second when beaten only a
length last time in Oaklawn’s Southwest Stakes after breaking in the air and
seeming to lose any chance at the start when he began behind the rest of the
field. Sandman shows a solid improvement pattern throughout his recent starts
which is great to see for a 3-year-old at this time of year, and certainly caught
the eye as a talented horse with plenty of ability based on his big effort in
the Southwest Stakes.
