two recent races at Santa Anita since coming back from the layoff with Grade 1
and Grade 2 wins at this 7F distance including a huge 110 Beyer speed figure
last time in the second race off the layoff. This is a tough field, but he’s

leader of the Kentucky Derby qualification process every step of the way since
he burst onto the scene with his first stakes win in December, which was followed
by wins in Santa Anita’s San Felipe Stakes and Santa Anita where he earned the
best speed figures amongst the Kentucky Derby field. Overcame a tough trip to
win the SA Derby. Has an ideal running style for success in this year’s
Kentucky Derby as a stalker who will be able to comfortably race behind the hot
early pace who will get the jump on the various deep closing contenders in the
race.

Burnham Square had a tough pace set-up when he lost the Fountain of Youth but
has been unbeaten in the other 3 of his last 4 races including wins in the Holy
Bull Stakes and Blue Grass Stakes. He’s an overlay at 12-1. Sandman showed
extreme talent in defeat when he overcame a disaster start for second in the
Southwest Stakes and then finally came into his own last time when he won the
Arkansas Derby when stretched to 1 1/8 miles. He still has unlimited potential,
especially with the Derby’s added distance at 1 ¼ miles which favors him. Sovereignty
came back from a layoff with a big win in the Fountain of Youth Stakes and then
bounced when second in the Florida Derby. Potential horse for the course won
big in a key race last year at Chruchill Downs when he beat eventual Louisiana
Derby winner Tiztastic and Arkansas Derby winner Sandman.
