Finished a distant second last time in career debut in an effort that looks a lot better now considering the winner of that race, Ewing, came back to win the Saratoga Special in his next start and is likely to be one of the favorites in the Hopeful. This horse looked good enough in the first start to be considered the horse to beat today.

#1 Salamis

Plus exacta box with #1 Apalta

#1 Salamis finished third in a tough 12-horse turf spot at Keeneland after getting floated out wide from post 10 last time in his first race back from the sidelines. The second-place horse from that event, World Beater, who finished just two lengths ahead of him, is now a Grade 1 winner.

Play in exacta box with #1 Apalta, who ran a solid speed figure in defeat last time in dirt sprint career debut and now is probably meant for this stretchout and switch to the turf. Top-notch connections of trainer Todd Pletcher and jockey Irad Ortiz add to the appeal.
