Many of the top
horses in this race will be coming from far behind, and that gives the
advantage to the front running Channel Maker, who is the defending champion in
this same race after going wire-to-wire last year. Has yet to rediscover his
best form from last fall when he was third in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, but his
last outing signaled an improving pattern and he could KO these on the front
end at 6-1 bargain odds on the morning line.
#6 Noble Emotion
plus exacta box with #4 Big
#6 Noble Emotion is one
of the two best short turf sprinters in this field along with Big Package, and
the two of them should comprise the exacta box. If the advantage goes to speed,
then Noble Emotion is a good pick with good efforts coming in all four of the
recent races including a win when last seen here at Belmont at 6F.
Play in exacta box with #4 Big Package, who finished second
behind Noble Emotion at Saratoga but was finishing fastest in a race at 5 1/2F
and 6F today could play right into his hands. Won last time out at Saratoga and
has always liked Belmont with a 2-1-1 record in 4 turf sprints here so far. In
good form and likes this trip
