Has been
competing at the top European turf sprint level and likes firmer turf and
handles short sprint distances the best such as 6F and today’s 5F distance.
Gets Johnny V. aboard for the mount and is slipping through the cracks on the
morning line odds at 15-1, which is a major value. Blinkers on and has speed
but doesn’t need the lead to win, and that’s important in this race loaded with
blazing speed where the winner probably won’t come from too far back. The presence
of Larry Rivelli’s #9 One Timer, who ran a :21 opening quarter mile last time,
poses problems for the front-running Wesley Ward-trained favorites in this
race. This horse can sit the trip and post the upset.

off four straight wins now for Godolphin and trainer Charles Appleby, including
last time out when this horse shipped to North America and rolled to victory in
the G1 Summer Stakes at Woodbine with Frankie Dettori aboard. Dettori is back aboard
for today’s race as this proven winner looks for 2 in a row on this side of the
pond.

Modern Games, who is the “other” Charles Appleby-trained Godolphin hopeful
in this race. Stretches to one-mile for the first time but has been dynamite in
recent outings at 7F and comes into this spot with two straight wins including
a 7F Group 3 win last time out at Newmarket. Regular Rider William Buick is
here for the mount and he is a proven Breeders’ Cup winning jockey. Will be
close-up to the pace and should make the lead turning for home and will try to
hold off the late surge of his barnmate Albahr.
