#6 Untreated
Plus exacta box with #5
Prioritize
#6 Untreated is a Todd
Pletcher trainee who was briefly considered a Kentucky Derby prospect last year
after a dazzling maiden win at Tampa Bay Downs sent him to the Blue Grass
Stakes, where unfortunately the wheels came off. Took a long layoff and came
back looking good last time with a big, easy, and fast allowance win here at
this distance. Should only get better in second off the layoff and will be
tough to beat.
Play in exacta box with #5 Prioritize, who needed a race
last time off a four-month layoff and returned with a fifth-place finish
against a notch tougher than today’s class level. When last spotted at this
class level he won the race all the way back at Saratoga in 2020. Since then,
the races have mainly been graded stakes attempts, but the key today is the
class drop finally back down at the level where this horse can win, or at least
reach a spot in the exacta.
Race 8
#10 Curlin’s Wisdom
Stretched out
last time and got the lead and held on for a close third-place finish in a
two-turn turf race. Returns on the dirt at the same distance, but the big
difference is that this distance in one-turn on the dirt as opposed to two-turns
on the grass, and this layout plays into this horse’s favor today for trainer Bill
Mott with Jose Ortiz picking up the mount.
