#4 Phenominal Woman was
well bet but needed a race off an eight-month layoff two races ago when she ran
a useful return outing for fourth, just a nose out of third. Came back and
tried the dirt for the first time last time out and passed that test to the
extent that she’ll be the horse to beat in this spot with another similar
effort. Got claimed by trainer Juan Vazquez, who is off to a blazing start at
this meet with 5 winners from his first 9 starters.
Play in exacta box with #5 Juliana’s Rose, who was a well-bet
first starter last time out in a 12-horse field at Belmont, and settled for
third in that solid debut after breaking slowly near the rear of a big field.
Will improve in second outing and just needs a decent break to at least hit the
exacta boxes.
Race 7
#4 Captivating Cara
Took a long time
to break her maiden but finally got the job done last time out against a solid
maiden field, and has clearly continued to improve in all of the recent races.
Moves up versus winners for the first time, but gets lucky that this is a weak
field and there’s no killers in here. Entered at the proper level, and should
make it two wins in a row with another similar effort as last time because the
speed figure she earned will trounce these.
