Plus exacta box w/ #2 Hades
Fierceness won last fall’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in impressive
fashion and goes out for the most potent trainer and jockey in the history of
the Florida Derby with Todd Pletcher (7 wins) and John Velazquez (5 wins) in
his corner. Threw in a clunker last time in his 2024 debut but needed that race
in return from the sidelines and could easily turn the tables on these with his
best effort.
Play in exacta box with #2 Hades, who skipped last month’s
Fountain of Youth in order to point specifically for this race. Hades is
undefeated 3-for-3 including his win over Fierceness and Domestic Product in
the Holy Bull. Domestic Product returned to win the Tampa Bay Derby in his next
start. Hades has good speed/tactical speed and has shown he doesn’t need a
clear lead in order to win. Gets Paco Lopez aboard and benefits from a cozy
inside post draw.

Race 12 – ARKANSAS DERBY
#7 Muth
Plus exacta box w/ #9 Mystik Dan
#7 Muth ran like a monster in his Grade 1 win last fall in Santa
Anita’s American Pharoah Stakes and was subsequently second in the Breeders’
Cup Juvenile. He returned to win his 3-year-old debut earlier this year in the
Grade 3 San Vicente Stakes and should be ready for this assignment for trainer
Bob Baffert, who has won this race four times.
Play in exacta box with #9 Mystik Dan, who looked sensational
beating some of these same rivals in an eight-length win earlier this meet at
Oaklawn in the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes.
