Last year’s
Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner Sovereignty gets all the headlines,
but he lost last time out to White Abarrio without an excuse in the Oaklawn
Handicap and White Abarrio is just too inconsistent to count on at this point in
his career to win two of these caliber races in a row. The best alternative is Magnitude,
who comes into this race in his career-best form with three straight wins including
his highlight win last time in the $12 million Dubai World Cup where he beat Breeders’
Cup Classic winner Forever Young. Magnitude lost to Sovereignty in last year’s
Travers Stakes, but he’s come a long way since then and he’s ready to show it
off today.
